Teenager dies in skateboarding accident

HAWAII KAI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow)- A 16-year-old boy is dead after a skateboarding accident in Hawaii Kai on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Kalanipuu Street.

The teen was reportedly being towed by a moped and slipped off his skateboard near his home when he hit his head on the pavement. Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

On Facebook, the family of the victim identified him as Reid Krucky, the son of well-known local businessman Anton Krucky. Neighbors of the victim reportedly told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser than he was a sophomore at Kaiser High School.

According to Emergency Medical Services, Krucky was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

His has been classified as an unattended death, although police recently said they have opened a homicide investigation.
