Sacred Hearts students make out of this world connection

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Students from Sacred Hearts Academy in Honolulu linked the International Space Station (ISS) with students in Quebec, Canada.

Nine Academy students used the NASA Amateur Radio Ground Station on the Waialae campus to create the connection between the ISS and Nuvviti School located 1,200 miles north of Montreal Canada.

The contact occurred as the International Space Station flew above Hawaii at 18,640 miles per hour and lasted about 10 minutes.

The Academy is notified when the International Space Station  is over the islands and has the opportunity to telebridge schools around the world to the ISS.

The Nuvviti students asked questions of Space Station astronaut Dan Burbank.
