Twenty-four teens, lucky drawing winners of their respective Oahu branch public libraries, will be honored and compete for a chance to win the grand prize of a Kindle Fire and other awesome “tech gadget” prizes at the 2012 Hawaii State Public Library System and Hawaii Pizza Hut Teen Summer Reading Program Finale at Kahala Mall Center Court Stage on Saturday, July 28 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Each teen will get a chance to select a numbered pizza box with a prize listed inside such as the Kindle Fire, a 22-inch LED TV, Nook Color E-Reader, Nintendo DS 3-D, Samsung Blu-Ray DVD Player, Nikon Cool Pix Digital Camera, and gift cards.  All prizes are donated by Hawaii Pizza Hut, corporate sponsor of the Teen Summer Reading Program for the past 20 years.

Every summer, about 3,000 teens statewide participate in the annual Teen Summer Reading Program and collectively read approximately 20,000 books.  This year’s five-week program was conducted from June 4 through July 7 at Hawaii’s public libraries, and the theme was “Own the Night.”

Lina Girl, popular co-host of KCCN FM 100’s Morning Drive Show, will emcee this year’s event and ukulele sensations Nick Acosta and Nelly Toyama-Baduria of Roy Sakuma Productions, Inc., will present a special musical performance to kick off the annual summer reading program finale.
