Bennet Group Strategic Communications, Hawai‘i’s fourth largest public relations firm by revenue, announced on Thursday that Su Shin has been hired as senior vice president. In addition, Monica Salter has been promoted from senior account manager to director.

“Su and Monica are both business-savvy public relations professionals who meet client objectives by offering meaningful and thoughtful strategic counsel,” said Joan Bennet, president of Bennet Group. “With her impressive background, both as a TV reporter and respected communications professional, Su will provide high-level strategic communications counsel, as well as drive new business and continue to build upon Bennet Group’s reputation as Hawai‘i’s go-to agency for strategic guidance and creative solutions. Monica’s commitment to green initiatives distinguishes her as an innovator in aligning clients’ missions with sustainable strategies, and we are excited for her continued growth within the company.”

Su Shin is a seasoned public relations and communications executive with more than 17 years of experience in journalism, comprehensive strategic communications and executive management. Most recently, Shin was vice president strategic alliances at Waimana Enterprises, Inc., and played a key role in overall strategic planning and organizational leadership as a member of Waimana’s executive management team. Prior to that, Shin was chief communications officer at the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, where she developed and implemented a strategic communications plan to advance Honolulu Board of Water Supply initiatives and establish clear organizational vision, mission and objectives. Shin left her position as vice president at Bennet Group – formerly known as Joan Bennet & Associates, Inc. – in 2004, and now re-joins the public relations firm to serve as senior vice president. Earlier in her career, Shin served as a reporter for KHNL-TV. Shin is a proud graduate of McKinley High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism from the University of La Verne.

Monica Salter provides strategic planning and communications to clients in development, real estate, hospitality and clean energy.
