Michael Menendez Named Chief Technical Officer of Volta Industries

HONOLULUwww.VoltaCharging.com – Volta Industries LLC (Volta) today announced Michael Menendez has been named Chief Technical Officer (CTO), in addition to his duties as director of research and development.  Volta operates the Volta Network, Hawaii’s only free-to-use electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

As CTO, Menendez oversees all aspects of the EV charging stations, from new design and development to manufacturing of the stations. Currently Volta operates one of the largest networks of both free and pay-to-use EV charging stations on Oahu and is actively expanding its presence on the mainland, with a focus on Southern California.

Through the Volta Network, Volta designs, installs and maintains the EV charging station and provides the energy to the EV driver, all free of charge.

Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties’ Kahala office is now accepting applications for its real estate pre-licensing class.  The school, located at Kahala Mall Roof Top, 4211 Waialae Ave. Suite 9000, will begin its first class on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.  Some of the topics covered include history of Hawaii real estate; Hawaii real estate licensing laws and administrative rules; condominium and timeshares; and other general real estate principles. The tuition fee is $285, which includes materials.  Interested applicants are encouraged to call 748-3410 for more information.

Technology upgrade improves electric service in Urban and East Honolulu

The following information is provided by the Honolulu Electric Company:

(HONOLULU) – By taking advantage of smart technology and federal stimulus funding, Hawaiian Electric Company has made service more reliable for customers in urban and east Honolulu.

The recently completed East Oahu Transmission Project will help speed up troubleshooting during outages and reduce restoration times in some situations from hours to minutes. The project is part of Hawaiian Electric’s overall effort to modernize Oahu’s electric system to improve service for customers. The upgrades will affect approximately 12,400 customers in the area from the university district through the Kaimuki and Kahala commercial areas.

The project involved installing equipment that can be remotely monitored and controlled at eight of Hawaiian Electric’s substations and one sub-transmission pole top switch. These systems were integrated into the overall grid utilizing a smart controller.
