10th Annual Betty Crocker Landscape Awards honors those who make Hawai‘i a more beautiful place
Scenic Hawai‘i, Inc. celebrated green thumbs on Monday at the 2012 Betty Crocker Landscape Awards ceremony held at the Outrigger Canoe Club. In honor of Betty Crocker, one of the founders of the organization, Scenic Hawai‘i recognized gardens whose beauty reflects the gardener’s love of the land and appreciation of the natural beauty of Hawai‘i.
“Each of the award recipients shows a deep appreciation for Hawai‘i’s historical and cultural resources,” said Cicely George, president of Scenic Hawai‘i, Inc. “We are excited to recognize professional landscapers as well as individuals whose passion for gardening has created beautiful green spaces on our islands.”

Created nearly 100 years ago, Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park continues to serve as a refuge for the island’s native plants and animals and has preserved the settings of Kilauea and Mauna Loa. Chuck Burrows was named Volunteer of the Year for his dedication to preserving the beauty of the islands through volunteerism.
