Today the Hawaii Association of Secondary School Administrators (HASSA) named John P. Sosa, Principal and Head of School for Kaiser High School, the Hawaii 2014 MetLife/NASSP High School Principal of the Year. Representative Gene Ward (R) presented the award to Principal Sosa this morning at the HASSA's Distinguished Middle & High School Principals and Vice Principals Recognition Ceremony. Principal Sosa was recognized for the great strides made at Kaiser High School since he began his term there as Principal in 2008.

In 2012, Kaiser High School graduated its first cohort of IB Diploma Programme (IB DP) candidates, with 22 earning the prestigious IB diploma and is preparing the 64 seniors in this year's cohort (Class of 2013) for the International Baccalaureate exams. The first IB cohort (Class of 2012) had 22 students receive the IB Diploma in addition to the Hawaii Department of Education High School diploma.
