Annual Chopsticks & Wine Benefit for the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce to be held Thursday, October 18 at the Hawaii Convention Center

Foodies and wine lovers are invited to enjoy an evening of fabulous food, wine and music to benefit the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce at its 11th annual event called Chopsticks & Wine featuring “Wine…And All That Jazz.” On Thursday, October 18, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Held at the Hawaii Convention Center, is one of Hawaii’s signature foodie events will feature the culinary delights of over a dozen of Hawaii’s most respected chefs and the wines to go with it.

Participating restaurants include Alan Wong’s Honolulu, Beachhouse at the Moana, d.k.

Aloha United Way's Society of Young Leaders and Hard Rock Café Honolulu Drum up Supplies to Help Homeless Students Get the Tools They Need to Succeed in School

Aloha United Way's Society of Young Leaders (SYL) and Hard Rock Café Honolulu are teaming up for the 5th Annual School Supply for Hawaii's homeless students to help them succeed in school.  The collection drive runs from June 15th - July 15th and donations can be brought to Hard Rock Café Honolulu, 280 Beach Walk Avenue Honolulu, HI 96815.

Approximately every year there are 1,800 children ages 17 and under living in homeless shelters and another 1,000 that are homeless that live unsheltered in Hawaii. As a result, one of the most requested need from homeless families is school supplies. Last year's efforts garnered over $10,000 worth of quality school supplies, which was distributed to over 800 homeless children.

The Kahala Hotel & Resort General Manager Roseann Grippo has announced an agreement with Arancino Restaurant to open Arancino at The Kahala, a new fine dining restaurant featuring traditional Napoli style cuisine with a unique Japanese flair. The new restaurant will open in early 2013 in the former location of Tokyo Tokyo, which closed in January 2012. Arancino at The Kahala will feature a wood burning pizza oven, display kitchen, private dining room, and inside and outside al fresco dining areas.

Naples or Napoli is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and the credited as the birthplace of pizza.

The Kahala Hotel & Resort will host the Great American 4th of July Bar-B-Que on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at the Plumeria Beach House from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.  Adults are $49 and Children 5-12 are $22 (tax and gratuity have not been included and children under 5 years old are free). Price includes choice of beverage: 100% Kona coffee, loose-leaf hot tea, or Kahala iced tea.
