One Strong Ohana - Recyle Your Change

The change in your wallet weighing you down? Take a load off and Recycle Your Change to support the Hawaiʻi Children’s Trust Fund’s One Strong ʻOhana campaign which runs April through June 2012 at Whole Foods Market’s Kahala store.

Whole Foods Market’s Recycle Your Change fundraiser kicks off this April, which is also child abuse and neglect prevention awareness month. The Recycle Your Change program gives customers the opportunity to support the campaign by ‘recycling’ their leftover change at the checkout counter.

Additionally, One Strong ʻOhana representatives will be in-store at Whole Foods Market Kāhala, every other Sunday afternoon starting April 1, 2012 through June 24, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to offer advice and discuss ways the community can help prevent child abuse and neglect.

Congratulations to the young men of our Kaiser Volleyball Team!  They have won their first two matches against Anuenue and McKinley. The support of the Kaiser and East Oahu families who have attended the games is greatly appreciated by all of the players and their parents.

The next set of matches will be at Kaiser High School Gym during the Spring Recess on Thursday, March 15 at 5 p.m. when Kaiser faces Kailua and Roosevelt.  Enjoy an exciting Spring Break family activity by coming down to join the crowd of fans and family to cheer on the Kaiser men - a great family fun night activity for your ohana!

Waldorfaire 2012, Saturday, March 10, from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m

Waldorfaire 2012 is Honolulu Waldorf School’s annual Renaissance-theme family fair for families with children of all ages. Waldorfaire will be held on Saturday, March 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 350 Ulua Street in Niu Valley.

Waldorfaire showcases Waldorf education through unique games and activities, including archery and jousting, a puppet show, a talent show, and a children’s toy shop of handmade items.

KCAA Preschools adds manager for new early ed professional development program

KCAA Preschools adds manager for new early ed professional development program

KCAA Preschools of Hawaii announced today Coreen K. Lee has joined the nonprofit organization as project manager of the new Center for Early Education and Development (CEED). CEED, slated to open later this fall, is focused on broadening professional development opportunities in the field of early learning.

Lee is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Mānoa and holds an M.B.A from Hawai i Pacific University. She is currently a doctoral candidate via the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education. Lee has worked in the early education industry for several years, including as the associate executive director of PATCH and manager of a statewide program.

Koko Head Elementary School invites parents of incoming 2012-2013 Kindergarteners, prospective parents, as well as parents considering a  request for a Geographic Exception (GE) to join us for an informational "Talk Story" with Principal Jeffrey Shitaoka.

The event will be on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the school library.

Information about  school achievements and a tour of the Kindergarten classes will be provided.
